David Anthony Johnson Inspires PUC Students at Martin Luther King Jr. Service

The PUC Church resonated with powerful words as David Anthony Johnson addressed students during a special Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service. The event, held in the sanctuary on Thursday morning, Jan. 11, as part of the Community Speakers Series, was dedicated to honoring King鈥檚 legacy. The event began with a warm welcome and prayer from Religious Vice President Ashley Castro-Rodriguez. Vice President for Student & Spiritual Life Ryan Smith also welcomed students back for the beginning of the winter quarter. Before showing a short video about the life of King, Smith said he is often remembered for the Civil Rights Movement and getting Black people to vote. 鈥淏ut it鈥檚 so much more than that,鈥 he added. 鈥淐ivil rights was important to so many groups within our country.鈥滱lthough Johnson is a familiar figure at PUC, it鈥檚 been nine years since he last spoke at the college. PUC Vice President for Alumni and Advancement Kellie Lind to Depart for Private Business Opportunity

海角视频 President Ralph Trecartin announced this week that after nearly 25 years of service, Vice President for Alumni and Advancement Kellie Lind will transition to a new business opportunity in the Napa Valley. Trecartin told PUC staff that Lind鈥檚 departure at the end of the month came with 鈥渕ixed emotions.鈥濃淜ellie possesses an exceptional ability to connect with everyone, making each person feel special and important,鈥 Trecartin told the PUC faculty and staff in an email announcement. 鈥淗er vibrant personality and warmth exemplify the kinds of friendships and connections that PUC is famous for. While we celebrate Kellie鈥檚 exciting new business opportunity, her regular presence on campus will be deeply missed. PUC Achieves Accreditation for New Health Science Program

海角视频 is proud to announce the accreditation of its Bachelor of Science in Health Science program by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WASCUC).Vice President for Academic Administration Lindsay Hayasaka said, 鈥淭his new degree fills an identified need for students who complete their A.S. at PUC and want to continue with us. PUC Partners with Loma Linda University To Launch Accelerated Social Work Master's Program

Many graduates from 海角视频鈥檚 social work program are eligible for advanced standing options in master鈥檚 degree programs. These options involve exemptions from specific coursework, accelerating the overall completion of their master鈥檚 degrees. A considerable number of PUC graduates opt to pursue their advanced degrees at Loma Linda University. In November, PUC and LLU formally agreed to establish a 4+1 Master in Social Work program, streamlining the transition from a bachelor鈥檚 degree to a master鈥檚 degree for students. This innovative program simplifies the application process for students, requiring only one application and acceptance step. Successful completion of this accelerated social work program results in attaining both a bachelor鈥檚 degree from PUC and a master鈥檚 degree from LLU. PUC鈥檚 Student Association Opens The Shed with Affordable Outdoor Gear

The Shed is an outdoor gear rental facilitated and funded by SA and the SA Senate. They rent athletic and outdoor equipment to the student body, such as mountain bikes, paddleboards, and backpacking gear. The initial equipment, like several REI mountain bikes and paddle boards, was funded through an SA Senate bill several years ago and was the utilization of the equipment.Daniel Randall, student manager of the Shed, has been involved since the end of last year. He loves all things outdoors and sharing that with others. 鈥淧UC is located in such a great spot for outdoor activities, with many recreational options and places within such a short distance away!鈥 says Randall. 鈥淚 want everyone at PUC to have the opportunity to take advantage of this if they want to!鈥漈he goal of the Shed is to make more outdoor recreational activities available to PUC students by offering a wide range of outdoor gear for rent at affordable prices to students and faculty.
