Starting in fall 2012, 海角视频 will begin offering students a new degree: History, Political Studies, and Ethics. The bachelor's degree, which will be based in the history department, will combine classes in American history, politics, and ethics to educate students in politics, government and a life of public service.
鈥淚n a national environment charged with politics and political activism, it is not surprising that prospective students鈥onsistently ask about offerings in political science,鈥 says Amy Rosenthal, associate professor of history and chair of the department. 鈥淸The new program] is designed to educate students in the workings of government and the characteristics of modern politics鈥n preparation for careers of service in local, state and federal government, law, public policy and political science.鈥
鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited about the possibilities this new degree brings to our campus,鈥 relates PUC academic dean Nancy Lecourt. 鈥淭he degree in political studies will make PUC an even more attractive option for students by further expanding our offerings in the liberal arts. We expect that the program will be particularly attractive to students interested in pursuing graduate school in law and public policy.鈥
The Princeton Review ranks political science as one of the top ten undergraduate majors offering "unique intellectual challenges" that develop skills applicable to diverse careers. Numerous careers and opportunities are available to students majoring in political science in areas including public policy, media, advocacy, political strategy, economics, diplomacy, justice, and academia.
