The faculty of the department of visual arts at 海角视频 invites the community to the opening reception of their 2019 faculty art show in the Rasmussen Art Gallery on the PUC campus in Angwin. The reception begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, and is free and open to the public. The art will be available for viewing through March 17. 

Faculty with art in this year鈥檚 show are: Amy Cronk (mixed media); Cheryl Daley (ceramics); Jayme de la Torre (sculptural assemblage); Brian Kyle (photography); Milbert Mariano (design); Bob Pappas (ceramics); Cliff Rusch (photography); Tom Turner (watercolors).

鈥淲e are a department filled with diverse faculty, specializing in different disciplines, who make the student experience at PUC one of a kind,鈥� says Rajeev Sigamoney, department chair and associate professor of film and television production. 鈥淐oming to the faculty show allows students to get to know our faculty better, as well as exposing both them and the community to what we鈥檙e all about here in the department of visual arts.鈥�

This 2019 event is the 25th annual faculty art show, highlighting the diverse talent and experience of those who shape the experiences of the next generation of artists.

鈥淔aculty in visual arts constantly push themselves to stay relevant within their fields and create work relative to their disciplines,鈥� Sigamoney explains. 鈥淎rt is meant to be shared with others, and the process of putting one鈥檚 work out there for others to see takes vulnerability, honesty, and bravery. This is something we challenge our students to pursue in their academic development, so it is our privilege to engage in the same practices as faculty.鈥�

Sigamoney adds showcasing the faculty members鈥� passions and talents allows students the opportunity to view their professors not simply as teachers but also as professionals.

鈥淭his show can open students鈥� eyes to not only what opportunities await them after graduation, but also to the diverse and creative classes and art forms available at PUC,鈥� he says. 鈥淎nd that鈥檚 really what art shows are about鈥攊nspiration on a myriad of levels.鈥�
